Can anyone shed light on a problem that has just developed since upgrading to Avast! Pro 5.0.418 and VPOP3.
Scenario is that I have VPOP3 setup (and running fine until the Avast upgrade) on separate PC (aka ‘Mailserver’) on my P2P network. Having trialled the Avast! Pro upgrade on another workstation (and overcome some BSoDs) proceeded to upgrade the ‘mailserver’ PC. But Avast 5 is blocking mail (incoming and outgoing) on the mailserver PC - I established this by disabling the Mail Shield and the mail service was instantly restored (I tried just disabling incoming OR outgoing but neither worked) .
Mail does get received/sent from the Mailserver PC in which case, presently, it is doing so unprotected with the Mail Shield disabled.
FYI: ‘Mailserver’ PC setup: Windows XP sp3 (on Dell 2.4Ghz P4 w/1Gb RAM etc) hosting the VPOP3 Mail Server.
Workstations all use MS Outlook 2007 using the Avast Outlook plugin (and work fine) in XP sp3 and Vista Business OS’s.
