Avast Pro AV Sandbox not working (just before and after license renewal)

Ok, I noticed that Sandbox was bugged a few days ago. However, my license is near the expiry date so I chalked it down to maybe some diabolical plan by Avast for me to renew early. So I waited until Avast started popping up doomsday messages every few minutes and giving me 50% discounts before I renewed.

Today, I bought a year’s license of Avast Antivirus Pro and Sandbox is still not working, as shown in the video.

I have done a full uninstall using the uninstall utility in Safe mode. And reinstalled everything. The video shows my results and my settings. In the past (a few weeks ago), if I have done that, whatever program or video I ran would start immediately. Now, nothing happens.

Did you restart your PC after you install Avast PRO 7.0.1456?

@Immutant: yes, there’s a bug when you want to execute an application in the sandbox from UI. Some internal structures were changed, but UI wasn’t updated. As workaround, can you please use mouse right-click to execute apps in the sandbox (or mark them to be always executed in the sandbox)?
You can try to download patch file (not sure if it’ll work, it’s not tested):

  1. download http://public.avast.com/~kurtin/AvastUi.exe
  2. go to safe mode, backup your avastui.exe, replace with new one

@JuninhoSlo Yes of course I restarted my PC

@pk Thanks, but it didn’t work. I rebooted to safe mode and changed the program that you gave. However, when I went back to normal, I got the cascading error style of error boxes showing this message.

I rebooted back to safe mode and used control panel to Repair Avast. Now it is the same (as the usual) and sandbox is still not working.

Ah nice, the latest update resolved this issue. The process will run when I choose to Run the virtualised process.

However, I notice that no program is listed during execution. Is this normal?

No, I don’t think that’s right.

Do you get the red border/sandbox tab?

This sounds like my issue with beta 7.0.1464, and I think this was caused by corrupt installation/settings.

Try repair of avast, you can do this from Control-panel → Programs and Functions → avast! Pro Antivirus → Uninstall → Repair.

I tried to repair, no luck. If it helps, I am running an AMD Phenon II550BE which have 2 cores unlocked.

No borders either

Been like that since the beginning, but at least something happens when I choose to run in sandbox. Whether the program is truly running in sandbox is another issue.

Try to re-install AIS with aswclear.exe in safe mode.

Download aswclear.exe on your desktop
Start Windows in Safe Mode
Open (execute) the uninstall utility
If you installed avast! in a different folder than the default, browse for it. (Note: Be careful! The content of any folder you choose will be deleted!)
Click REMOVE

PS:You may try Rejzor tool “Avast cleanup tool” after you remove Avast Pro with aswclear.exe in safe mode.
