AVAST Pro Blocks OUTLOOK 2010 from starting!

Dear friends,
I have recently shifted from other antivirus company to avast, the last two PC’s in our office. Unfortunately we are unable to operate and had to install a free version of the previous antivirus firm to be secured. Our OS is Windows 7 PRO, Outlook 2010, 32 and 64 Bit PC respectively. Any idea what to do to solve the problem? To start the outlook we have to disable the AVAST and even if we start AVAST after outlook has started, we are unable to send or receive messages? Very frustrated with the situation…
Any help available?
Best regards
Panos

f.y.i. we have followed the procedure suggested by AVAST support and nothing is working - no results.

First, be sure to get rid of all remnants of your prior installed AV(s)…!!

Then:

  1. Download Avast Pro Antivirus: http://files.avast.com/iavs9x/avast_pro_antivirus_setup.exe
  2. Follow instructions: http://www.avast.com/uninstall-utility (Run this tool for all prior installed Avast versions…!!)
  3. Reinstall Avast with the downloaded installer from point 1.
  4. Reboot.

@diomar, Asyn provides good advice…if you search the Forum there has been problems with Outlook in past.
They fall in two groups…SEND/RECEIVE problems which are certificate import resolution…and Outlook crash on launch.
The crash is usually a Avast plugin problem…perhaps corrupt.
You can determine this easily by just holding down CTRL key while you click/launch Outlook…this will launch it in SAFE mode.
If it works then you know the culprit.
As Asyn outlines, you need to fully (clean) uninstall Avast and re-install…this will fix.
Do not skip the cleaner utility step.

Lastly, AFTER you do the above if this does not solve then try exporting the mail certificate from Avast into Outlook.
Export From Avast: http://www.avast.com/faq.php?article=AVKB91
Import To O/S for http://support.microsoft.com/kb/179380
Import To Outlook

  1. Launch Outlook
  2. FILE Tab > OPTIONS > Trust Center > Trust Center Settings > Email Security
  3. You should see section of Digital Certificate IDs and a Import Button

Good luck !
