I had to perform a System Restore on my XP Home SP3 machine. I have installer and license. After System Restore my Avast won’t work. It appears it doesn’t recognise the license. As far as I can remember at the end of installation the message changes from “Installation complete” to “Uninstallation …” Can anyone help please? Regards jk.
It happened to me. You will have to uninstall then reinstall. You will lose all your firewall and application rules. Only way I found to rectify. Just don’t surf during the process and you will be fire, PS turn Windows firewall back on if it is off
“Add / Remove Programs” → avast → change/remove → REPAIR (or CHANGE) and then when it finishes, REBOOT.
No uninstall needed.
Hello, thanks to Stompem and ady4um. I searched this forum and found what I thought might relate to my problem. I had to download “aswclear.exe”, go into Safe Mode and run the “aswclear.exe” file. Reinstalled Avast Pro. and added license and was good to go. I’m sure you are aware " aswclear.exe" is an Avast uninstall file.
