There is no best Antivirus…because more than 50,000 pieces of malware or even more come out ;D
Even HIPS,BB can and every layer of technology will be bypassed and attacked 
But every AV is statistically just as effective,Avast has saved my life a numerous times in the past from USB stick malware but I always make sure I can find something malicious that avast misses and get it sent to avast and detected.
So you must as far as possible avoid sharing of USB’s and dont forget that your brian is the best AV.Of course you can have some additional defenses like comodo firewall running alongside avast to help combating malware.Layered protection is best security you can get
You can see even the crappy worst AV called quickheal which is praised for no reason in our country (India) didnt catch this.
