Have uninstalled Avast Home, rebooted XP, and installed Pro Ed.
But it seems to have installed as Home Ed again?!?!? with same registration code etc.
How do i uninstall, or edit registry, such that i can test the Avast Pro Edition?
Is there a registry key that controls behaviour Home versus Pro?
That would at least save me the bother of uninstalling and reinstalling again.
avast! 4 Professional Edition Download
avast! 4 Professional download
You can download the latest version of avast! Professional Edition from this page. From the table below, please choose the appropriate language version, and click the download icon to start the download.
Note: This product will also work as a 60-day trial version.
Since you have already used the home version you may need a different pro trial key possibly because of an anti-piracy feature.
You may need to completely remove avast 4 home, add remove programs, reboot and run the avast! Uninstall Utility, find it here and reboot. Then try to install the Pro trial version.
The state of the installation is given by the key used to register avast.
You can use a trial key for 60 days.
After you use (insert) a home version key, only using a full professional key you can ‘return’ to the old state.
This seems to be the antipiracy feature playing its game…
Maybe you can ask to Alwil team to give you a ‘new’ trial key to test avast.
Send an email to support@avast.com and, maybe, ask for it and post a link to this thread
