I have 30 users on a network reporting they’re all simultaneously getting errors about Avast not updating. The update fails out with the good ole “already up to date” even though the prior screen says there is an update available. This screenshot was taken today:
I’ve seen suggestions to run on a repair, but how it is that 30 installs would come to be corrupt simultaneously? Seems ridiculous. Update attempts direct or through IE settings both fail out.
I have seen the database become corrupted, usually loosing connection during the update. Try manually downloading the update from here: http://www.avast.com/download-update
Apply it to one to test and reboot. See if the errors continue.
The update processed successfully and showed after I restarted the machine. The problem does not appear to be fixed, as I attempted to update the program afterwards and that gave me the same error as it did with the virus definition update attempts (this is a different machine from the one previously listed, one with an older program version, but on the same network).
Got kind of same problem this morning. Loss of connectivity corrupted my package virus definition update. If I tried updating manually or by downloading the file then it would say “already installed”.
THE SOLUTION was SIMPLE:wait after the next virus definition release update. Et voilà.
