I am a satisfied client of Avast, running the Avast Internet Security Suite on 2 desktop computers in addition to the Avast Pro U3 edition on a SanDisk U3 Smart Drive.
The U3 licence is valid until 18th November 2011.
Q1. I have found from SanDisk that the U3 technology has reached its end of life and there is no longer any support for their Smart Drive, also there will be no more software developed nor supported for U3 Smart Drives. I appreciate that Avast continues to update my U3 software and therefore ask, ‘when or if support will be stopped?’
In the meantime I will try the PortableApp.com software on a standard USB flash drive. Having looked at the PortableApp.com, and the Avast web sites, there is no mention on either site if Avast has developed the software to operate successfully on a standard USB flash drive or on the PortableApp platform.
Q2. Will one of Avast’s applications be suitable for use on a USB flash drive independantly of, or linked to the PortableApp platform?
Q3. If support will be continued by Avast for the U3 Smart Drive, will my Security Suite licence extend to include the U3 licence renewal fee?
