Avast Pro refuses to disable email signature/"clean note"

I’d have much less of a problem with Avast attaching its spam to every single email I send if I was using the free version, which I am not.

I pay for Avast.

And with my current version, 11.1.2245, I can go in, uncheck the “insert note into clean message” checkbox in the email scanner settings, click OK a couple times to get out of Avast… but then I go back in and look and it’s checked again.

Why is this happening?

My OS is Windows 7 Pro SP1.

AvastUI > Settings > General > uncheck the ‘Enable Avast email signature’ option.

Wow. Thank you!

Gee, I was looking at the Active Protection tab… I customized the “Mail Shield” settings… you’d think they’d put that setting there, where it belongs. The “Insert note into clean message” checkbox was the one that wouldn’t stay unchecked until I took your advice. I didn’t even look on the general tab - I didn’t expect the setting to be on there – why would it, when there’s a whole other screen devoted to email settings?

Horrible UX, Avast. You might want to fix that.

It was fixed in today’s release https://forum.avast.com/index.php?topic=182468.0

This dual setting came about because for those using only used webmail and didn’t have the Mail Shield installed couldn’t access the original mail shield settings.

So they couldn’t turn off the webmail clean note setting a quick option was to put it in the General settings, so they could disable it for webmail without having to install the mail shield.
