Avast Pro scans with every boot…after the OS is loaded. I have WHS running on one PC and four other PCs running Avast Pro. This machine runs a half hour scan with every boot (add to that WHS that is trying to do a back up and I could grab dinner before the computer is usable).
The OS is Vista Ultimate
Intel Dual Core 3g Processor
2g Ram
Go to the Scheduler folder and delete (or edit) the schedulings.
Or, if it is really a boot time scanning (not the one shown in the screenshot), this is how to disable scan at boot:
If you press F8 when starting Windows and select ‘Last known good configuration’ from the boot menu, the boot scan should not be started.
Or just run: C:\Program Files\ALWIL Software\Avast4\sched.exe /D
Weird again… it should have something there…
If you go to Tasks, Properties, Scheduling… anything there.
The icon on system tray is very clear: a task is scheduled…
Are you the only user of this computer? Are there any other administrator? Just guessing…
Is it just me or this a possible confusion between the standard shield? (that’s what the first screenshot is)
IF it is this, is not a problem as it is the on-access scanner that is constantly running and scanning files as they are accessed
If it is the boot time scan, have you allowed it to do the initial boot time scan as I think it will keep trying until you allow it to do the scan for the first time.
I think this problem is with WHS…I opened the windows home server console today, clicked on the avast Antivirus tab and looky, looky…I will change this to weekly and see if the problem goes away.
