is there a way to install the avast pro 30 day trial on top of avast free which im currently using? i downloaded the pro version installer but it asks me to uninstall the free version first, is there not a simpler way through the program itself to start a 30 day trial in the same way it does wen u insert a pro version license file?
I don’t believe so, as far as I’m aware only entering the avast pro license into the Home version would convert it to the Pro version and of course you don’t have a pro license with the pro trial.
thats unfortunate, makes it quite a hassle to try out the pro version before i buy it, kinda counter-productive IMO to not let people do this
I don’t know, it is normally the reverse with users trying avast pro first. I thought you had more or less made your mind up anyway and just looking for a way to get it cheaper ;D
I wouldn’t say it is that much hassle to do a reinstall, unless you have made a lot of changes to settings.
o ive made my mind, but i had a BSOD issue last time i tried avast and i thought that might be a problem with Comodo firewall i had been using, now im using outpost and i wanted to trial the pro version before i go ahead and spend my money on something thats gunna give me BSOD’s and since im on my laptop that is system critical, i cant go around getting BSOD’s all the time
Good choice firzen.
I think there alots bugs fixed just to compare to the first release so you might got luck and enjoy really much that Pro. ![]()
btw, this BSOD issue happened aprox. a week ago, i dont think they released any major update for the past week
is there anyway i could get maybe a 30 day trial key file?
No the pro trial key is embedded in the installation.
Install in a trial mode when its ask on the install or its should be automatic.
im not really sure what ur trying to explain
if i do the whole process of uninstalling the free version and installing the pro trial, will avast keep my persistant cache or do i have to do a scan all over again
I don’t believe it keeps anything as you are uninstalling, the persistent cache shouldn’t take long to rebuild, during the course of normal system use.
well i wish uninstallations for programs really were so thorough, but many programs leave behind files and settings whether u want it to or not, i was hoping for once maybe the persistant cache would be one of those things lol
No, nothing should left behind regarding to cache.
I can’t recall the file name used for the persistent cache data, I haven’t felt the need to ever save it as it shouldn’t take long to recreate. But if that were saved and transferred (have to disable self-defence) it might work.
