The latest version (20.1.2397) of Avast Premiun Security is slow to activate when the PC is started and therefore for a few seconds Windows Defender is activated. This also entails a substantial delay in starting the PC with windows 10 - latest version.
It speaks, it seems to me, also here.

Please provide. Thank you!
Repair Avast:
- Avast GUI → Settings → Troubleshooting
- Click on ‘REPAIR APP’.
- Follow instructions.
- Reboot.
If that doesn’t fix the problem, here’s the next step to try.
Clean Install of Avast:

I had already made a repair and then I also tried a clean installation.
The problem remains and anyone can verify it!
Just launch Windows Defender when you start your PC and you will notice that the antivirus is activated, only to be deactivated when Avast is loaded … but sometimes even 50-60 seconds pass!
Since it is a rather old problem, also affecting previous versions of Avast, but which has been accentuated in this latest version I am surprised that it has not been possible to correct it !!
To avoid misunderstandings, I would like to point out that the problem concerns two of my PCs with Windows 10 Home and Pro.
I also ask why here
https://www.avast.com/it-it/virus-update-history
“Virus Update History” is no longer available.
This is what I see,

I do have the Defender icon in the system tray but, as you can see Avast is what’s protecting the system.

To be clearer, the screen appears to me too, but only after waiting for the Avast icon to appear / be loaded in the application bar.
However, the Defender icon appears much earlier and if in the meantime, I was also saying 50-60 seconds, I click on it and the screen with Defender activated appears. After those seconds, the screen changes and Avast is activated. I think I was clear and in any case, regardless, I hope that some users, better than me, want to report the loading times of Avast which seem to me to be excessively long. This can be justified only when, when the PC starts, it downloads the virus definitions updates but this Avast does not do it right and only every time the PC is started!
Avast protection starts very early on in the boot process. The sys tray icon comes much later and isn’t an indication as to when Avast’s protection started.
Issue confirmed by the devs: https://forum.avast.com/index.php?topic=232566.msg1537884#msg1537884
Sorry Asyn but I’m not entirely clear about the problem.
It would seem that what I proposed is real.
Spec8472 writes here:

“No need to check integrity of system files. The problem is with load of our language base.dll. I am able to reproduce the issue now. Thank you.”
So something in Avast doesn’t work. I am wrong?
As said, the issue has been confirmed, the devs are working on a fix.
OK thanks!
You’re welcome.
With regard to the problem already outlined, I tried to activate periodic analysis in the Windows Defender options. The result was that when I restarted my PC Avast did not activate (instead Defender was activated) and sent me the following message:
“Well , this is embarassing…
wewe run inf a prpblem and need tho to restart your antivirus”
… I hope the developers will solve the serious problem soon!
