Hi First post!
Have been using Avast for quite some time and am very happy with it…
but lately i have detected a strange behaviour sometimes when downloading large zips
(700mb or so) with reget from easynews.
reget has a very useful throttle down function enabling you to do other activities on the web beside downloading full speed. So that yoy can share the pipe with other on your network.
lately the download wasn’t slowing down no matter what setting i was using.
even if Reget was shut down the download kept going on!
upon investigation with a network tool i saw that avast was still downloading the file from easynews.
My guess is it wants to scan it !
It should though be smart enough to know that the zip aint finished downloading yet!
Any solution!
Thanks in advance.
John
Well maybe including the url would solve the problem.
though unless the common part of the url is enough it would have to be added for each file as the url changes with every file!
Unfortunately …Excluding the site itself is kind of defeating the purpose of using an antivirus , as i do download hips of small files which i do want scanned.
what i don’t understand is why an antivirus is turning into a downloader!
why not scan archive files only when they are on the HD complete or not!

You can use wildcards in the exclusion list.

It is up to the user to decide how/what he want to have scanned or not.
You can setup Avast this way in the options/settings if you want it to be this way.
No. The WebShield is an extra protection. If you set the Standard Shield to High you will have a full antivirus anyway.
It’s not. WebShield analyses all traffic passing thru a HTTP connection (between your browser and an Internet server). This includes scripts embedded in HTML pages.
