Avast program not updating anymore.

Hello all,

Yesterday by midnight, my Avast detected a malware obfuscator.bs and onfuscator.xz something like that. Avast and Microsoft essential both detected it. But only Microsoft essential software was able to kill it.
my avast became bad. scanning system of web shield was stopped and i cannot enable it again. the program was damaged, obviously.
With whatever knowledge i had about computers i tried to disable avast and reinstall it. i first tried to reinstall it using the uninstaller but failed. so i decided to take it off computer and fresh install by using the saved avast installer on hard disk.

now my avast is working fully. but the program is not at all updating. shows package broken or something like that.
pls help… my avast is v 6.0.01367

There is a fix coming soon for the problems you are mentioning but you will have to download from here when it comes as more than likely the update function is frozen as is mine
Note that you should’nt have MSE and avast installed on your system at the same time as this will only cause more problems, nerver install two AV’s on the one system.

^thanks alot…

btw, i downloaded the fix utitlity mentioned just above in this page. but it shows strange" your installation is ok, this utility is for code:2"… (sorry unable to mention the correct, complete text).

Avast and Microsoft essential both detected it.
Installing multiple AV will create all kind of windows errors and false positive detections....

Full time or not you should’nt have two AV’s, even with one disabled there are still active low level drivers that can conflict.

Yes.

thanks all of you for the quick help…

You’re welcome.
