When I click on the maintenance tab it shows a new program version, 9.0.1500 is available but isn’t there a newer version?
Any info would be appreciated.

The version listed at the top of the free board is the latest stable, just download straight from there and install over the top http://forum.avast.com/index.php?topic=136785.0
