Avast progressively uses more memory. How can I restart the application program?

Whenever I restart my Windows 8.1 laptop the 3 Avast processes visible in task manager are use low RAM. Over a period of days of putting my computer to sleep at night and reopening each day, the memory usage increases, in order, by: Avast Antivirus (application), Avast Service, and Avast Behavior Shield.

Is there a way to ‘reset’ the memory of the application without restarting the computer. I have already tried restarting the service, which resets memory usage of the Behavior Shield but not the application (Avast Antivirus process).

No as you can’t simply turn off the avast service.
The solution is to not let the system hibernate/go to sleep.
Stop wasting energy.
