I’m using the latest version of avast, but i have a problem with auto-updates in always connect mode, when i use a proxy.
If I am in my school (behind a proxy) Avast can’t make any auto update (but manual update work).
If I am at home (direct connection) Auto update work perfect.
It’s not a problem with my pc, because all person who have Avast in my university have this problem.
It’s very restrictive because if avast.setup work, any other avast update can be made.
I think that there are a bug with auto update (it don’t look proxy parameters), because avast.setup try to connect at sm42.avast.com and not to my proxy server!!
If i made this manually, Avast.setup connect to my proxy.
(see with tCPView)
thank you all,
good bye
Ps : It’s possible that my language is very terrible… sorry
For sure there is not a bug as I’m behind a proxy and autoupdates work perfectly.
What I suppose you could do is open the proxy settings dialog and use the test buttom until you get connection.
If you can’t configure exactly your proxy, try to remove all entries for avast.setup from your firewall settings and repeat the tentative of connection (testing the proxy). Allow when the firewall ask so.
In fact, it work if I use manual proxy setting,
but if it’s internet explorer setting… it doesn’t work…
And I need to use internet explorer setting, because I don’t want to change proxy every day when I go to University and when I go back.
Onetime it’s sufficient
PS : I use the Sp2 Firewall, with all avast’s programs in exceptions
This is well known… I mean, in some systems the automatic configuration (read the browser proxy settings) does not work…
Are you using the Administrator account?
