Avast puts temp files in the wrong C:\ Users folder

Hello,

I’m having a small issue with my Avast Free 17.1.2286 (Build 17.1.3394.46). I first installed a previous version of Avast when my Windows 10 username was Bear, but I have since renamed the folder in C:\Users to Box and changed a registry value so that almost every program I have installed recognizes “Box” as my User folder. Avast doesn’t, and reinstalling and restarting hasn’t helped. Here is the path:

C: → Users → Bear → AppData (only folder visible) → Local (only folder visible) → Temp (only folder visible) → avastBCLTMP (only folder visible) → chrome, edge, SafeZone

Deleting these and restarting, even on the newer version of avast (which I enumerated above) doesn’t stop these folders from showing up.

How do I change this? What registry value must I change? Any help would be appreciated.

EDIT: To be more specific, the registry value I had changed is in
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\ProfileList
and I changed the ProfileImagePath value in the one folder that had a ProfileImagePath with Bear as the value.

Don’t change anything, just perform a clean installation of the latest version.
You are running a old(er) version.

Hey, sorry I’m replying so late. This worked. Thank you both.

Thanks for letting us know. It may help some one else.
