Hey guys! Where the heck can I browse and rollback files from quarantine?
Avast “ate” my very important file, I was using this file very often, but today it become dangerous for Avast(!?), I am SO angry, because it’s unique file and I need it back.
I can’t find this option anywhere…
My version: avast free 140720-1
Open up avast gui, at the left hand side panel u will see a magnifying glass click on that and at the bottom of the avast gui you will see 3 options: Quarantine (Virus Chest), Scan history, and Create custom scan. Click on Quarantine (Virus Chest) and you will be able to get the file back.
Since this file is very important to you and if avast keeps on detecting it and putting it in the virus chest you can file a false positive report to avast. Simply on the virus chest right click on the file and click on “submit to virus lab”. After that simply fill up the form and put as much information as possible suggesting this is a false positive.
I don’t know what you mean by “Avast “ate” my very important file” ?
Avast’s default settings would sent the file to the virus chest and not ‘eat’ it. Avast would also give al alert and that would/should say what the malware name was.
AvastUI > Scan - at the bottom of this screen > Quarantine (Virus Chest).
So what was the file name, location and malware name given in the alert ?
Restoring from the chest isn’t a problem, but you would also have to exclude that file or on restoration, avast would alert again. There is obviously a risk in doing this if the file is truly infected. From the chest you can Restore & add to the exclusions - but you should also send it to avast ‘Submit to virus labs’ for analysis and correction.
My version: avast free 140720-1That is not the avast version. the 140720-1 is the vps version.
If that file is so important for you, why don’t you have a backup?
Thank you Staticguy for quick, exact answer. I have someway missed this window part, nvm…
I have also excluded this file from scanning in Settings->Antivirus->Exclusion section (sorry if i missed the translation, I have gui in Polish lang)
