About an hour ago, Avast started blocking files that are generated by the build processes of several of our projects at work. This includes:
- simple, innocuous .gif files that are simply copied from the project directory into the project’s output directory, which we are fairly certain contain no malicious content as they are straight copies of uninfected files; the source and copied files show no diff in our project repository locally
- files generated by IntelliJ as part of a Java Spring project, e.g. “/private/var/folders/On/cpf6_snd5nz9b7zylp6b311h0000gn/T/hsperfdata_[username]/2261”
As one might imagine, having Avast deleting generated files from our project output directory is making our lives as developers very difficult. Any idea what might be causing this and how we might remedy it? So far, we have tried restarting the computer and making sure Avast is up to date with the latest program version and malware/virus definitions, to no avail. For reference, we are using Avast Business Security 2016, version 12.5, virus definitions version 17022101.
