just wondering when Comodo 3.0 first came out Comodo and avast did not work good together there were some conflict.
i was wondering with the new version of Avast and the new version of Comodo are there any more troubles or they now work great together?
btw i know this has nothing to do with this topic but was wondering is version 5.0 beta coming anytime soon???
also could we know wat will be the new feature? hopefully it will have a better detection and a better removel than avria and kasepsrky antivirus ;D
And btw i am really happy with Avast great antivirus

Welcome to the forum!
I’m still using v2.4 of Comodo Firewall, but maybe you will get an answer in this thread:
http://forum.avast.com/index.php?topic=31619.0
Some seems to have problem, some not.
There have been no mention of when avast 5 will be released. So the same boring answer, it will be released when it’s ready
At XP, no conflicts at all.
On Vista, you need to test. Most systems work very well. I had some trouble and solved with Alwil team help (http://forum.avast.com/index.php?topic=31747.msg267269#msg267269 ).
First semester of 2008 is the promise.
A lot of them… they’re all spread on forums. It would be good to have just one place to discuss them. Maybe the Beta forum.

is it true that avast free is only a realtime protection antivirus?
i use it and i think it has a scan.
but someone in the forum said that its only a realtime protection antivirus?
isn’t it the same as all the other top antivirus like Kaspersky, Nod32, Dr Web etc…
That is not true, you can also scan with the program. Avast is a full-featured antivirus package
Read more about the free version (Home version) here:
http://www.avast.com/eng/avast_4_home.html
Where did you read that?

:o of course not…its a complete AV program with on-demand and real-time scan…and as Bluesman suggested,visit http://www.avast.com/eng/avast_4_home.html to see it by yourself…
welcome to the forum
No, as other users already answered.
Just to note that automatic (scheduled) scannings are not available in the free version, only in Professional one. Common (manual started) scannings are available both in free/Pro versions.

well its true that avast use the advantages of dual core processors right
btw wat the % of the removel of avast?
i think there is a test for that right? wat the score of avast?
i know that avasts detection is not as good as kaspersky or aviria or even avg.
those are advance + and avast is at advanced
As almost any other good application…
avast only cleans some executable files (.exe, .com).
If you’re talking about detection, you can search the web for antivirus tests.
Read Vlk’s posts: http://forum.avast.com/index.php?topic=4979.msg36041#msg36041

Here how independent are some of these tests:
http://forum.avast.com/index.php?topic=14071.0
Sometimes it’s better… generally, avira uses heuristics and has more false positives.

but there is a test of the % of removel of the malaware of antiviruses right?
also avast doesn’t scan or remove as many types of files as other antivirus or it does?
btw i have been using avast for over a month and very happy
just like to know everything i can about it

of course there is…actually there are many antivirus tests…visit www.av-comparatives.org for example
…as for the detection…avast has very good detection and comparing it with kaspersky wich also uses antispyware feature…its unfair…avast is an antivirus and kaspersky is antivirus-antispyware…as for avg’s detection…believe me i have tested avg many times and it has lack of detection…also…if u see av-comparatives results u will notice that avast(antivirus) and avg antimalware(antivirus and antispyware) are almost equal which proves the better detection of avast…

ah cool ;D
so then Avast has great protection
just wondering would Avast be a antivirus /antispyware in 5.0? as loads of antivirus are coming to be like that?
So then Avast only detects and removes viruses, worms and trojans?
and it doesn’t detect or remove spyware or any other alaware except from the 3 i stated above?

yep!!avast has very good detection…it mostly detects viruses, worms and trojans but it detects some spywares too(the most well-known)…
sorry but i dont know if avast 5 has antispyware engine…it will have better detection though…
