Avast recognizing .dropbox .cache as virus

Has anyone experienced this? I’ve scanned my system with other software which did not find any viruses at all (Super Anti Spyware). Scanning now with Malewarebytes to supplement. Did some browsing on the subject, which lead me here (hi).

Anyone that could steer me in the right direction would be greatly appreciated.

I have dropbox on both my systems and have never had an alert, though there are a few instances in the viruses and worms sub-forum (where ideally this should be).

Can you attach a screenshot of the avast alert window ?
Or full text of the alert, file name, location and malware name.

There is an infection that creates that folder and then redirects all searches

Thanks for this clarification essexboy, this could account for why there isn’t a flood of similar posts (on these alerts) in the forums.

if you search the forum for dropbox .cach there are some hits

A thread in the virus section would enable me to fix this… After the steps in this thread http://forum.avast.com/index.php?topic=53253.0
