How come when i use the repair option in programs and features, afterwards it says " This program did not uninstall correctly". Is it suppose to uninstall my avast when i use the repair option? I ended up selecting “this program uninstalled correctly” even though uninstalling wast my action or intention. Can someone add some input please?
Although I really doubt CCleaner could clean any significant registry key from avast!
It’s a very light registry cleaner (and it should remain like this, otherwise, will bring more problems than good).
After you uninstall avast!, several files remains on computer, and I know that i left something in the registry. Therefore I suggest CCleaner to clean the registry.
Still no recommendation for ccleaner, but the specific avast uninstall utility, run in safe mode for each avast version 6, 7 the user had previously installed.
Download the avast! Uninstall Utility, aswClear.exe find it here and save it to your HDD (it has uninstall tools for 5.x, 6.0.x and 7.0.x).
I appreciate the replies. My concern was regarding the repairing of avast and not the uninstallation process. When a user uses the repair option to repair avast, is it suppose to uninstall/reinstall the avast program? If not, then i dont understand how to repair avast. When i selected repair, my system informed me that avast was not uninstalled correctly. This made no sense. I do not want to uninstall avast but only initiate a “repairing” option. I will try this in safe mode as suggested but hope i will not have to reinstall.
By the way, when a user uninstalls avast and has a paid version, can they just reinstall/download it again? Do they need to reenter the license key?
