Avast Reports Rootkit virus but boot scan finds none

HI All
I have run multiple boot scans on a laptop. AVAST says that there are no infections. But during normal use i get an AVAST window which says that there have been rootkit infections detected, and it asks if i want to delete or Ignore them. I Choose delete then get a message suggesting to run a boot up scan, which i say yes too.
I have also chosen ignore and run anti rootkit scans using IceSword, AVG Anti Rootkit sophos anti rootkit and unhackme. All four of these utilities are saying that there are not any rootkits detected.
Can anyone help please.
