Avast reports trojan in Chrome installer

I am having the same problem as these people. I searched for “chrome” in the forums, but couldn’t find anything related.

Is this a false positve?

Thanks!

Avast needs to get on this and issue an update. What a pain!

Same problem – Avast detected the Win32-Midgare-Ol[trj] virus while doing a background scan in screensaver-mode. I had downloaded the Chrome setup program weeks ago, shortly after Google first released it. I assume this must be a FP. But someone at Avast needs to get on top of this right away!

I’m experiencing this issue too - when attempting to download Google Chrome today Avast classified the download as including a Trojan Horse, and terminated the download.

‘Malware’ Name: Win32:Midgare-OI [trj]

I’m assuming this is a false positive.

Request sent to moderators to move this thread to the viruses and worms forum.

Attachment: avp.zip[/i]

well also detected by gdata IS 2009 - engine 2 (Avast!) as a virus, not by engine 1 (bit defender)
(I’m actually testing this program until avast 5  )

does anyone know if the updates for gdata is 2009 do directly come from avast?

Downloaded now and no problems…
