I am running Avast Home (4.6.763) from an admin account on WinXP Pro fully updated. I have all providers active except webshield. Every so often (could be a few days or a couple weeks, but has happened every since I have been runing Avast, actually) I will check the provider setttings, and they have all went back to the defualt setting (normal) and all 7 of them are turned on. My computer does not crash, and auto updates are set properly. What causes it to do this?

Where you logged in as TRUE administrator while installing Avast?
(not as user with admin rights < that is something different)
If not:
- remove Avast
- reboot and login to the true administrator account
- install avast
yes, it was installed under true admin
I got no idea then why this is happening.
While I like Avast, I am going to have ot remove it and use something else. I noticed today that it had reset everything to default yet again. Unless I check it everyday, or happen to notice there isnt a clean message inserted into a sent email… I have no idea it has reset. Either way, I cant continue to use it if it isnt going to keep the settings to give me the protection I need.

Before you un-install avast, search the forums (Search button at top of page) as there have been other posts on this subject. Perhaps one of them has a solution to your problem.
