Avast Resident Error RPC

Hello,
I have the message “Le sous-système AAVM a detecté une erreur RPC” when I want starting the resident
protect and it don’ t want to run.
Please, can you respond in french.

Sorry, only English I can talk…

Can you try to repair your installation?
Go to Control Panel > Add/Remove programs > avast! antivirus > Remove.
Then choose Repair function in the popup window (Repair).
You must be connected to the internet while repairing.

If this does not help, can you uninstall / boot / install / boot again?

Which is your Windows? 98, Me, XP?
Do you use any other antivirus in your computer?

To TECH or another rescuer.
Thank’s for your post.
My pc is a AMD Duron 1.3Ghz with XP pro , Avast 4.6.
I have try to repair and reboot how you have said but the resident don’t run always.
Yerstheday, I have convert my system drive the fat32 to NTFS.After I have run Zebprotect for protecting
my communication ports and using of IE.My session is a admin’s rights but in propriety of drive c (system drive),security and sharing, I have appropriate to me the owner’s rights for disk, folders and files and also of my second drive where avast is installed.

I have forgot to join screen’s prints of taskmanager and zebprotect.
They are joined now

And init file of avast

 Sometimes RPC “errors” can be “corrected” by use of the
DCOMbobulator" from www.grc.com/dcom !? It would be
used to “disable” your “DCOM” .

Thank’s
I go to download and use it

This is rather new for me… what’s the relationship between the two Windows Services, RPC and DCOM?

I think it is a clutching at straws moment as it is obviously not a DCOM exploit issue. I also don’t see the relationship to RPC, yes there were exploits for both DCOM & RPC they were both patched by MS and that would be integral with XP.

The RPC error is a Tech said usually related to a previous (not fully uninstalled) or existing occurance of another AV.

Or any program that monitors services and startup items like WinPatrol…

Befoe Avast I have try KAV and after NAV but now thy are uninstalled ( fully? I don’t know, I haven’t
see in regitrer-base.
For DCOM and Zebprotect apparently they can close the port 135 named “port 135 RPC” in zebprotect
and Dcom can close the DCOM port. But I don’t know how to see if they are really closed.
Need I see registrer-base if another AV is not fully uninstalled? Or re-install XP Pro SP2 or/and re-format
drive C: before (bad solution for me: one week of work for re-install all my softs and sessions).

Run this utility to remove all traces of Kaspersky from the registry:

Try what David post, but if nothing works, you will lose less time and have less headaches not starting installing KAV and NAV before avast.
