ok
i would like to know if i set up avast on check files on open and not (created/modified) files i’m secure to don’t receive virii

where is this setting ? are you using pro version perhaps?

set the standard shield to high, then select the advanced tab in the standard shield and specifiy additional file extensions to scan when they are opened.

see attached picture :stuck_out_tongue:

My personal opinion is you would be less well protected.

Logically, waiting to the last opportunity (check on open) to check a file which has been downloaded or modified (created/modified) gives only a single line of defence. But checking created/modified and then by default it would also be scanned on opening, give a second layer to your defence.

An opinion I agree on DavidR.

I didnt read mantra’s post properly :stuck_out_tongue:

My solution, setting the slider to high and specifying extensions to scan on open
will do both scan modified/created files and (User defined) files on open.

You would be a silly penguin to only scan files on open.

i’m using the pro version

why should i select to scan every files on open ?!?!?

for me scan created /modifed files is invain!

why should i select to scan every files on open ?!?!?

I think that we answered that, protection in depth.

for me scan created /modifed files is invain!

If that is your opinion, why ask the question in the first place!

The Home version option for scanning on open/create/modified files will ask only for binary scanning, like a text file. It won’t unpack the archive files for instance.
On Professional version, you could believe that unchecking this option you will only allow the virus file to be saved into your harddisk but, never, activated or run. Unchecking the option, your performance will be increased.
If you do not feel good with an ‘infected’ file saved into your system, so check the option in the Professional settings of the Resident task.
