I’m noticing that, from time to time, Avast uses a lot of resources on Windows 10.
At boot, I think it is related to scanning… :-X
But, why the firewall is taking the HDD as crazy? ???

+1
but in my case avast service using too much CPU
Thanks for reporting… It’s still surprising for me that the firewall is taking that much resources…
No problems on my windows 10 at all
Hi Tech, as far as I know, firewall service does not use the disk at all - there is basically no code that is able to access disk in this service. Even the rules files are loaded from the driver and not from the disk. This is really strange.
Anyway, thanks for the report, everything in win 10 is very new, we’ll look into this.
Lukas.
Thanks Lukas. It’s always comfortable to know that you’re looking into our non-standard issues. Evangelists always thanks this.
Hi,
I am having the same issue. But it seems that when restoring from Hibernate, the Avast services starts shuffling 6.9mb/sec (these are task man numbers, so a pinch of salt) off the disk and 20% CPU on an i5 with 8gb.
It also seems that if you start any streaming services the disk usage shoots up, so not sure if the firewall is not just being swapped in and out of memory to deal with streaming at the time.
Firewall issues are still around.
It is using hard disk resources and slowing down boot a lot.
Adding the dump file generated by Task Manager while it was freezing the boot process.
