Thankyou for the instructions - the 2016 version 11 is now installed - though it reinstalled as a 30 day trial, I have re-enterd the key and license details, so everything looks and seems back to normal.
Having the same problem. Avast customer support is rude, blames Microsoft, and just wants support money to fix it. Bad PR coming to Avast. I’m a computer engineer with admin privileges and will fix it myself. AVAST SafeZone gets a big “FAIL” when a day old software install fails. You Tube post coming soon!
Repair option works good and is easier than safe mode booting…
Control Panel
Programs (Click on Uninstall a program)
Mouse on “Avast Internet Security” rightMouseClick (Uninstall program)
Click on “Repair”
Reboot PC
All was repaired and SafeZone no longer reports
Cant open user profile directory, because you lack sufficient privileges.
You might want to contact the administrator of this machine.
Good that you have fixed the problem yourself : Repair is always a good first option to try.
But I must say this issue is new to me, and maybe also to Eddy, so I can imagine why he advised a clean install with a bigger chance of success.
About the “Avast customer support” you have conntacted ( by phone I guess ) : It is a third party support company, and we Avast users here on the forum don’t recommend to contact them either.
