When I use Avast SafeZone (in Bank Mode) to access the financial site www.hl.co.uk (Hargreaves Lansdown) I see a message reporting: “It looks like the browser you’re using isn’t supported any longer. To make the website look and work as it should please update your browser to a newer version. Older browsers can also be less secure so it’s important you keep yours up to date.”
I raised this with HL and here’s their reply:
Having raised the matter with our IT Team I can confirm that it appears that Avast SafeZone is based on an out of date version of another
browser (likely Google Chrome), which is why you are seeing this message.
We do not currently actively support this browser so your experience may vary from what we have optimised the website for, nor can we
comment on the security of the browser. Your experience on our website may be absolutely fine, however we cannot guarantee this or fix
any issues specifically caused by using this browser. Our support is based on the most popular browsers our clients use and security (e.g.
age of browser). As a guide we actively support the latest versions of Internet Explorer (and Edge), Google Chrome, Firefox and Safari.
So I ask myself, is SafeZone actually the most secure way to access financial websites?
