Avast SafeZone Not Working Properly Since 2014.9.0.2016 Update

Hi, all!

I’m reposting this as a separate topic, because the Avast 2014.9.0.2016 update topic is getting too large.

I hope an admin doesn’t delete it because they think I’m a spammer or something.

Automatic Switching to Avast SafeZone has stopped working for me.

My setup:
Windows 7 Ultimate SP1 x64
Google Chrome 33.0.1750.154
Avast Pro Antivirus 2014.9.0.2016
Avast Online Security Plugin for Google Chrome 9.0.2016.82

My problem:
Automatic switching to SafeZone is not working. The SafeZone option in the plugin settings is greyed out, and there is a message saying that it requires Avast Antivirus to be installed.

The SafeZone autoswitch function was working before the 9.0.2016 update.

I have tried a complete uninstall and reinstall of Avast Pro Antivirus, but it has had no effect on the problem.

Does anyone have any suggestions?

Thanks in advance!

Best regards to all!

Hello,

I just bought into Avast Pro an hour ago so I’m really a rookie at this. I have the very same problem as you but thought maybe being new to it all I had done something wrong. However, now that I see you have the same problem it’s probably not me but rather something with Avast itself.

So unfortunately Christopher I don’t have a suggestion for you but hope we can both have this solved.

Safezone never worked for me .

The problem seems to be in the Chrome extension, not in the antivirus program itself.
I think they need to update the extension.

I am not so sure it’s the Chrome extension. Since I didn’t know there was such a thing as the Chrome extension for Avast, before I saw it mentioned here, I went to check it and it wasn’t marked/activated in my settings. So I activated it and that did not make any difference whatsoever.

Some of the testing and info may be of help.

If the problem is not in the Avast extension for Chrome, then why isn’t it recognising that I have Antivirus Pro installed?
By the way, as a side note: the Avast extension is downloadable from the Chrome Web Store, but it doesn’t work without Avast Antivirus also installed on the machine.
I don’t think the problem has anything to do with the SafeZone browser.

I never d/l the extension separately, it was just there after I installed Avast Pro, but I never knew it was there until I saw your post. What does this extension do? Is it absolutly needed, or optional? I am wondering since it wasn’t automatically activated after I had installed Avast Pro.
