Avast Sand Box keeps messing up my computer

Avast sand box keeps asking to run on programs that never before had any problems. On small apps and programs.

Those programs dont work if ran in sand box or with out it, but worse of all my computer stops to function properly.
I can not lunch any program, task manager stops responding, no program can be terminated!

What gives?

It started happening all of a sudden.

have you tried latest pre-release version 6.0.1086 ? http://forum.avast.com/index.php?topic=76349.0

I am downloading it now. If i run into any problems i will post in this thread.

Same thing happens.

Should i upload the APP some where for you to look at?
Its a compiler app for Counter Strike maps (it optimizes input file before compilation).

Do you have any other security software on the computer other than Avast? What else are you running? Any other Anti-Virus programs might be conflicting and you should uninstall them.

This is a list of uninstallers for many popular computer programs. Do the Add/Remove Programs first for any competing Anti-Virus such as Norton (Symantic), McAfee, Microsoft Security Essentials.) There are deep rooted uninstallers on this list. READ THE INFO BEFORE USING THE UNINSTALLERS:

You should also download MalwareBytes from Malware Bytes.org. Run the updater, and run a full scan. Quarantine what it finds.

www.malwarebytes.org

After that, update Avast’s AV definitions. Than run a Boot Time Scan, with PUPS turned on. Select “Move to Chest” for what is found.

Is Sandbox working right following the bootup from the Boot Time Scan? Report what Avast found.

If you are still having problems, you might want to uninstall Avast from Add/Remove programs, AND download and install the Avast clean up utility. Now, get the fresh (non-Beta) from Avast’s website. www.avast.com. If that installs and updates ok, get your new license key.

My first guess is you have some malware, or another security program causing a conflict.

PS. The complete uninstallers page, showing the uninstall for Avast 5.0 will work for 6.0

I have none other AV software, never had. I use Zone Alarm free firewall. Never has avast had trouble with ZA.

Also, i have already tried the scan before posting this topic, nothing was found.

On my experience if avast will pop up to choose sandbox mode or not. Even choosing not to run sandbox the program will not work. This is Version 6.0.1000 Free.

You could try my steps.

It works for me.

Maybe it will work for you.

If your sure that the app you want to run is clean then…

  1. Open Avast GUI
  2. Click Real Time Shield
  3. Click File System Shield
  4. Click Expert Settings
  5. Click Exclusion
  6. Add the Programs you want to be excluded so Avast will not run of sandbox mode.

This steps help you not to run the Autosandbox.

Actually, there have been some conflicts with Avast 6 and Zone Alarm. I understand that the Beta build improves things in this area. Maybe turning off the Sandboxing altogether as suggested. But that unfortunately will not solve the problem as to why Sandbox is acting up on your system.

When did this start happening? Was it after you got Avast 6? Did you install or remove any other hardware or software?

@ chubalz

Even with out SB, the PC stops functioning normally after i run the app.

@ jack

As i said, doesnt work with or with out sand box.

It satrted happening for the 1st time that day.

Ive been using new avast for quite some time. Didnt happen before.

You are not alone. Its doing it to me too - with Irfanview and FastStone Image Viewer. These ran perfectly under a few days ago. Sandbox just locks up the computer tighter than a drum. I have Zone Alarm on here and that is it and am getting the same thing original poster is. Always worked before.

OK did a search on here. Ran a scan and all was clean. So I added it to Avast’s exclusions. Problem solved. Odd that its been used for many years on here (with and without Avast) and was never a problem before. One exclusion seems to have worked.
