I was wondering…since I read that avast 6 will future sandbox technology, how avast sandbox works? Comodo sandbox, at least talking about the automatic (not on demand) sandbox, is a sort of rights limitation…so it doesn’t work like Sandboxie, but like Drop My Rights…there’s always something written on the real registry/file system (wich I don’t like). Does Avast sandbox virtualize EVERYTHING?
Yes, avast sandbox virtualizes all the application running.
There are exceptions in the avast sandbox settings.
It’s on demand (not like Comodo on access sandboxing, limiting user rights for a particular executable).
A user in the Russian sub-forum says that his Firefox doesn’t keep history while working in sandbox. He checked the options not to virtualize bookmarks, history and cookies as you can see in the screenshot: http://forum.avast.com/index.php?topic=77796.msg666492#msg666492
