Avast says Firefox(brand new install) is malware and when I open it or another tab it dings and says it has blocked, …/ protected me from a virus, etc. When I click on more info, I get this:
hxxp://23.193.183.117/services/_utmh.gif?rand=0.6663066396330974&p=rVHLbtwwDPyVXqybBb1s2Qcd8miAAkFQtFvkLImU10H8gLTrpn9f2inaaw8BBAw1IofkKI7gKhtS1CH4ZGtUbaxNo3zdg5e1Uai7hMEIDZUFBk4a0VoptWmFEAyKW6KQkr36eXA4s4n0grGmQexE6qWxoDvf9rKHpvfBarC6FlqrDkXfQUrKKDA-CDDJG5QtNhA9hJAgabaSWvEJh6vPwNZMF7Y52XHJO94aze6uOeN8-eoH_PHt0Z0vl7XSvlKJzvSroM_xzP028LhMRK2UVwjPy4R7zH1Z3yqdqE-l4W-nSrVlIIIwHi-Vauztf3lEifdUNh1lH2YEKUIhwcPrfarl0KfFLgHGssSdm9Y_s7YbwT-TiNh_hzicKV7zseouSYES0tTC1lrQ6EoIRaBvRP8O7e6EJ0vhvLLvmDfMX-7d6VbVp6dT_f
Is this a false positive? Should I add it as an exception? :-\
Thanks

Avast says Firefox(brand new install) is malware
I dont think so ..... but you may post a screenshot
My guess is you see a URL:mal warning on that link you posted … and firefox is the one trying to connect
Url:mal means url or ip is blacklisted

Wouldn’t go so far to add an exception until know more about this site. Is it important to you to visit anyway despite avast! block, if that is what it is? Screenshot of warning will help.

Ok - here is the 1st screen shot and the second is when I ask for more information.

A really serious infection would have avast! blocking and popping up warnings even when you are not doing anything. Don’t worry, run and attach your logs in your next reply. Help is on the way when that is done.

Thanks for your help and advice, as well as encouragment ppl - I really appreciate it. That being said - yes on occasion now - I am getting the avast “ding-ding” threat detected when NOT even opening a chrome or firefox page :o (which it seems to be imbedded at the moment.) Here, I have followed the advice of Pondus and here are the logs…(as attachments) -
Also - if this helps at all and might - this all happened AFTER I downloaded a .cbr reader(comic book format but better than .pdf) called Cdisplay.ex (http://www.cdisplayex.com/)
- kind of funny how for the one of many times I did not get infected by an adult-orientated website but I child-teenage one. :-X
logs attached, thanks again ppl.
Let me know if the alerts cease after this

I was having this trouble after a recent reformat and the inevitable reinstall of mt favourite software. Whilst none of the usual programs were finding any malware Avast kept producing this pop-up on almost every webpage I visited so I installed the No-script add on for Firefox and it stopped immediately.
