Hello everyone, just got this new laptop and was in the process of installing avast! on here. My only problem seems to be that windows is notifying me that my anti-virus is out of date. I went to check my current updates for the anti-virus and software through the option “about avast!” by right clicking the spinning avast globe on the task tray. It’s not up to date with the one listed on the official avast website. The real problem is when I go to update it either manually through the website or by right clicking the globe, it says its up to date. Which in turn window gives me that warning flag.
I’m using Vista Home Basic and my date and time are correct.
The compilation date is 7/07/09
File Version is 090707-0
when it really should be
7/26/09
File Version 090726-1
Any idea whats causing Avast from correcting this? I’ve manually updated and try updating it through the task tray icon but it already says up to date like I stated previously.
Did you get the download from Avast’s website? Are their any other security programs that you are using that could be interfering with the Avast update process? Maybe uninstall and than get a fresh download and reinstall. Than after that, get your license key and enter that for registration, than about 40 seconds to a minute after you get the “Virus Database Has Been Updated” message, right-click on the Avast ball and go under Update and Program. That should download the latest Virus definitions.
Try a repair of avast. Add Remove programs, select ‘avast! Anti-Virus,’ click the Change/Remove button and scroll down to Repair, click next and follow. This has in the past resolved this out of sync issue between reported and actual VPS version.
