I had received reports that avast was saying my web site was malicious. I investigated it link scanner to another. all clean except avast. It have a host located in a data center with several web sites on it. No matter what url you choose unless it is a ssl, avast immediately blocks it. I installed avast on my system to simulate this and I don’t even get anything as a report to even have something to work with. Even if you use the ip instead of a url, it blocks it. It says malicious malware detected blah blah and what ever url you used. Here is one of the urls. hxxp://www.w5fws.org Is there some way to find our what and why it is blocked so I have something more to investigate the issues?
I think this is an IP block by the Network Shield, rather than the domain. Looking at the IP it is possible that other sites that are hosted on this IP are/have been infected, so your domain could be getting tarred with the same IP brush.
Nothing found here, http://sitecheck.sucuri.net/results/www.w5fws.org or http://urlquery.net/report.php?id=87047.
There is an on-line contact form, http://www.avast.com/contact-form.php?loadStyles for: * Sales inquiries; Technical issues; Website issues; Report false virus alert in file; Report false virus alert on website; Undetected Malware; Press (Media), issues.
- If you are reporting an FP, then you get another input field open, click Browse button enter the web URL for the site you wish to submit for review (Network Shield), etc. A link to this topic also wouldn’t hurt.
Thanks for the quick reply. I was thinking they must be blocking by ip as well. When you type in the ip to the host, avast immediatly blocks. The web shield doesn’t even show the url being scanned. There is about 10 sites on this machine and I do own them. So they each have been tested as much as I could with the tools available. So I can’t say 100% clean but I am 99.9%. I will contact them and hope to get a response as this does effect business and popularity of sites hosted when you have people posting around that the site is malicious.
Hello,
the IP will be unblocked in next stream update.
Milos

No problem, the avast labs team are usually quick to resole the problem once confirmed.
