Avast says nothing is wrong, but i keep getting popups telling me I have a trojan and that I have Mc Affee, which i dont

I rarely use my laptop, its fairly new and I have the paid version of Avast on it.

I dont surf, i just go to websites that I should be able to trust

now I’m getting popups that want to take me TDZY.OCTRANCY.CO.IN and avast won’t allow that.

Avast is telling me that everything is fine now, but i keep getting popups that say i have a virus and a trojan . saying i have McAffee and Norton, I dont have either

please help

First, I’m an Avast user and not an Avast Team member.
You don’t say what browser you are using ?

As you weren’t intending to visit the site:
Start by clearing your browser cache and cookies, including 3rd party cookies and restart your browser.

  • If that resolves it you should be good to go.
  • If it doesn’t try running your browser with add-ons disabled.
  • If that resolves it, have you added or updated any add-ons ?
  • If so try disabling that add-on - and restart and try again.

If still not resolved and you are using Chrome based browser
Try this suggestion by Avast Team member ‘lukor’

  • What about page notifications? Here: chrome://settings/content/notifications ? Do you have all cleared?
