avast says Trojan in netveda???

im using avast on a windows ME desktop and a winxp laptop
also im using netveda safety net
i got netveda safety net( firewall) on bothe computers)
i got this firewall for free from CNET.COM

for the first time today ( i think after i updated my avast virus definitions it says that ipclam.exe and ipclic.exe are both trojans

11/29/2006 5:38:41 PM a 4294734217 Sign of “Win32:Agent-DGX [Trj]” has been found in “C:\Program Files\NetVeda\Safety.Net\ipcLAM.exe” file.

11/29/2006 5:31:21 PM a 4294734217 Sign of “Win32:Agent-DGX [Trj]” has been found in “C:\PROGRAM FILES\NETVEDA\SAFETY.NET\ipcLic.exe” file.

i think my netveda licence expired but i dont know why its acting like this
and then when i tried to DL it again and install it the same thing happened again!

IS AVAST NEW VIRUS DEFINITIONS SCREWED UP AND GIVING OFF FALSE READINGS???

You could also check the offending/suspect file at: VirusTotal - Multi engine on-line virus scanner
Or Jotti - Multi engine on-line virus scanner if any other scanners here detect them it is less likely to be a false positive. You can’t do this with the file in the chest, you will need to move it out.

If it is indeed a false positive, add it to the exclusions lists (Standard Shield, Customize, Advanced and Program Settings, Exclusions) and periodically check it (scan it in the chest), there should still be a copy in the chest even though you restored it to the original location. When it is no longer detected then you can also remove it from the Standard Shield and Program Settings, exclusions.
Also see (Mini Sticky) False Positives, how to report and what to do to exclude them until the problem is corrected.

This is definitely a false positive. I have Netveda Safety.net installed on 4 different computers on 2 different networks and have the same issue. I have placed the files in the exclusions list and problems went away.

The problem hasn’t gone away, just that avast isn’t scanning it, so you need to confirm using the multi-engine scanners I gave and if conformed send the sample to avast (see False Positive link) so it can be analysed and the VPS corrected.

thank you everyone i had a feeling it was a false positive becuase the waring happened on 2 computers yesterday that i have netveda with and it happened the same day. didnt make sense so i thougth avasts current virus definitions were detecting netvedas as a false positive

If you haven’t sent a sample to avast do so, it can be analysed and the VPS corrected, which will help you and any other Netveda/avast users.

Welcome to the forums.

what exactly do i have to do?

and how to i contact avast and send them a sample?
do i send them the files itself or the log of the false reading or both?

You send the file, see the False Positive link in my first reply.
