Hello, I downloaded Avast free version today at the suggestion of a friend of mine, to try and get rid of a virus that would redirect my google searches.
After downloading Avast, I ran a full system scan, and it came up with several threats, it had one set to deletion, and the others set to virus vault. So I left the settings as is and hit accept. It then asked to reset the computer, and do a start up scan.
During the start up scan, it found some corrupt java files, not thinking, I hit delete all corrupt files. After the start up scan finished, and my computer loaded, it blue screened. Now every time I start up, I blue screen every seconds on the desktop. Even in safe mode, I will blue screen after a few seconds, my computer is unusable.
Is there anyways to fix this?
Edit: Forgot to mention I did a system restore to a point before I installed Avast, and I still get this error.

Which version of Windows are you using?
Try and restore the Last Known Good Configuration.
Windows 7 and Vista

XP

If this works which it should it will get you back to the Desktop
Once you are able to get back to the Desktop.
- Uninstall the Browser that is causing the problem.
- Clean you hard drive using CC Cleaner, Wise Disk Cleaner, Wise Registry Cleaner, Windows Cleanup Manager. There is a lot of overlap with the four but not everything so it is better to scan and clean with all four and not just one.
- Reboot your computer.
- Download Malwarebytes if needed and do a complete scan. Quarantine what it finds but don’t delete.
- Download Mcafee Stinger and do a complete scan. Make sure to set the Preferences to include Boot, Very High, Super Scan and leave the option at Repair.
- Reboot and then do a Windows Image Backup.
- Re-Install Avast if if was not installed on the restored Windows and do a complete scan with Avast. If Avast finds anything try and Quarantine it and not delete it.
- Reinstall the Browser.
- Set Windows to do at least a weekly Backup including the Image files.
Whatever Malwarebytes, avast! or Stinger Quarantines take a snapshot of and post back here.
