Avast scan deleted my Ubuntu root.disk created using wuby

I had Ubuntu installed on my Windows 7 machine using wuby.
So, wuby created a root.disk file.
I also had some compiled output of .C files.

Avast scan detected these output files as some kind of threat and asked me to delete them.
I can compile those file anytime. So, I selected delete all.

Atlast, when scan was complete, it also had deleted my Ubuntu root.disk file with same message as above output files.

I lost my whole Ubuntu installation and my networking project created in it. :frowning:

Does Avast consider C output files and ubuntu root.disk as threat??

Hey! did you have any problem with the program before? you should have sent it to the chest instead and there you could have analyse it by upload it to virustotal.com and check it up and see if other antivirus detect the files as a threat. if not or only a few you could have sent it to avast for analyse if it could have been a false threat.

Avast did what you’ve set to do…
Delete is not the best option. Send to Chest for further analysis is the default and recommended action.

totally agree with you there Tech
