I have been using Avast Home Edition since Nov. 2007. I am running it on a Dell Computer with Windows XP. I have Avast set to scan whenever my screen saver come on. Until just recently when the screen saver activated and Avast started scanning there was a blue bar floating around the screen and in it was a running log of all files that were being scanned. After a time it would also indicate that scan was complete. Now I still get the floating blue bar but there is no indication of files being scanned or if scan is complete. I do automatically receive frequent updates so the system must be working. Why am I not getting the scan info in the blue bar? How can I fix it?
Can you try to repair your installation?
Go to Control Panel > Add/Remove programs > avast! antivirus > Remove. Then choose Repair function in the popup window (Repair).
I think that this is normal if you finished the scanning at that session (boot/login).
Mine is working but as I have the Pro version, I can configure the screensaver task much deeper. I can’t remember how to configure it with the Home version (if possible).
Tech;
Thanks for you reply. I tried your suggestion and it worked like a champ. I was really getting worried since I had looked in the “Help” section of the program and couldn’t find an answer, probably wasn’t looking in the right topic. I also e-mailed Avast Tech Services last week and never heard anything in reply so I was definately getting worried. I am not as computer literate as I would like to be but am learning.
Thanks
Don
