Normally a full scan took my avast pro on windows 7 around 30 mins, Now today it took just over 10mins??
Is it just me or is avast just got that little bit faster?

Since you don’t state anything about avast version, nor is it in your signature. I will assume that you are using avast 5, in which case scans are faster and with the use of the persistent cache, the first scan is likely to be slower than normal (for avast5), but subsequent scans using this data should be faster.
So the combination of this would appear to be a much faster subsequent scans.
persistence cache has been written to disk in the meantime (ie during the previous scans), reducing dramatically the amount of time it takes now. What worries me is that since you’re asking, you probably didn’t set the full scan to use that cache. Default settings for the full scan preset are write but not read the persistence cache. Let’s say that you gained time from the scan not having to write so much data. It would still be faster if you set it to read them too
Sorry im using Avast 5 pro, V.D.B. 100421-1 and Programme version 5.0.507, Whats this persistence cache?
it’s a cache of file signatures written to disk by the scanner…so that the next time you scan it will only verify the signatures, and if they’re OK, he won’t need to scan the files for viruses because no change means no file modification. This makes the scans a hell faster.
Worth adding program version to your signature, saves us asking or making assumptions (and you know what happens when making assumptions ;D).
Sounds like time to take a rummage through the avast help file.
The cache is based on digital signatures and a whitelist.

Great thanks for the help, Little bit of homework needed and learned something new, Hows my sig looking now?
You’re welcome.
Signatures fine, I would include the full build number though avast! 5.0.507 Pro, though it means you have to keep your signature up to date ;D
Done, I was going to do that but now im going to have to remember haha ;D
Happened to me today, full scans:-
42 min Friday
16min Today
8min Today
