Quick question,
If i have autorun disabled on my computer, will avast still scan my usb drive for malware when i insert it? AND where can i look for the activity that avast has actually scanned a usb flash drive when inserted or opened?
Quick question,
If i have autorun disabled on my computer, will avast still scan my usb drive for malware when i insert it? AND where can i look for the activity that avast has actually scanned a usb flash drive when inserted or opened?
avast! scans IF a program/file is automatically started (or icons loaded, etc.). The insertion itself makes nothing.
The file will be scanned by File Shield and will appear at the bottom of its panel in the avast! interface.
so you are saying since my autorun is disabled, avast will not scan it when i insert it? But once i open it, the file shield will scan?
Also, if autorun is disabled, can i get an infection just by inserting my usb drive? Or would i have to access it to obtain an infection?
Yes. Why would avast! scan an inert drive that is not running/starting anything?
No. It’s not because your autorun is disabled, but rather that avast! won’t scan (it’s not necessary…) a file that is not being opened or executed.
Yes.
You or the computer should access it. In both cases, avast! will scan.
Thank you very much for assisting me with my questions. You’re awesome!
