Avast! scans and scans ThreatFire

Hello guys,

As you see in the picture sometimes avast! scans ThreatFire and the avast! ball is spinning all the time. Sometimes it doesn’t scan and they work without problem… I reboot my windows xp and i realise avast spinning never stops then i go to on access protection window to check what’s going on ? Then i see this which i also showed you in the picture. Is it a problem and should i be concerned ? And the last question. When avast scans threatfire does it use my resources much ? I m using a laptop thats why i want to use my battery as long as possible.

Many thanks for your support .

avast doesn’t ‘sometimes’ scan anything, it responds to activity, where something accesses these files and avast would intercept that access, scan the file and allow the original program to access the file.

What you have to determine is what is responsible for this activity.

However, based solely on this one file in the image wscanp.dt1 (it may be that there is some sort of scan going on ‘w scan p’.dt1), but that file type, .dt1 I wouldn’t have though would be scanned unless the Standard Shield sensitivity was set to High (as the image also shows).

So I would suggest you set the sensitivity back to Normal, the default setting and see how you get on with that.

Ok will try again with default level and i will write back you. Thank you so much for your reply !

You’re welcome.

I don’t see any problems so far after i changed back my setting into default. Can i also exclude the path of TF via avast! ? Is the answer is yes , how can i do it? Should i write the all path to avast excluder in the standart shield ?

personally that I feel would be a mistake as a) it could leave a gaping hole in your security, b) if it isn’t threatfire initiating the activity that causes avast to scan, it won’t help, just stop files being scanned in the threatfire folder.

I also wouldn’t change anything if as you report having changed back to the default settings, you don’t see any problem.

You could add specific paths to files, to the exclusions lists:
Standard Shield, Customize, Advanced, Add

If there are many files, then this could be very long winded and personally a waste of effore if you aren’t experiencing a specific problem.

Thank you again for your reply DavidR.

have a nice day
