Avast scans and treating viruses

Hi,

I was just wondering does avast scan hidden files and/or folders? Also does avast ever auto delete a virus if that is it’s only option?
Can files just disappear if they become corrupted? Because I scanned about a month ago and it came up with a virus, I then said move to chest and it said file can no longer be found. Since then I have scanned numerous times and it has come up all clear(with mbam and avast). Also my PC has been reset because I damaged it. The pc is also acting normally.
I cannot remember the file name, location or virus name but if avast doesn’t scan hidden files then it may have become hidden!
Thanks

If you want/need a check…

Attach your basic diagnostic logs. (MBAM and FRST)
Instructions: https://forum.avast.com/index.php?topic=194892

I think it has gone as avast auto deletes logs older than a month. Can I get those back because then I can do that for you

Attach your logs, else we can’t help you.

Ok, do you know any way to get old scans back?

Follow the instructions in Reply #1. That’s it.

Ok, I’ve done that and nothing has come up with MBAM. It says no threats.
Does that mean it is all ok?
Because I has a virus just after Christmas in which the file disappeared so if MBAM says it’s ok has it gone?
Avast says that it cannot read some files but no viruses, does this mean MABAM scanned these files?

Again, if you need help, follow the instructions in Reply #1 and attach your logs.

PS: And please stop starting new threads…!!

Have you taken some down? I really need to know if avast scans hidden files

Yep.

Thanks

You’re welcome.
