Avast Scans don't run (0%) help needed

I have licensed version of Avast Internet Security with the most updated definitions and Program, as reinstalled it hoping, would solve my issue, however, it did not

When I do scan most do not work - they just sit at 0%

SmartScan does work though however SmartScan just sits there at 0% and same with Full Scan - any ideas to why.

Computer:
ASUS Laptop (G752VL)
Intel Core i7-6700HQ @2.6GHz
RAM: 16GB
Running 64 Bit Operating System

UPDATE: I uninstalled ByteFence (whatever that is), which somehow got installed on my computer, and Quick Scan is working as at 6% now.

PS leaving post here, admins feel free to remove, just in case others have the same issue of scanning stuck at 0%
