Avast Scheduled Scan Not Remembered Across Reboot

I have Avast Mac Security 2016 (12.3.47217) installed on two Macs (an iMac and a MacBookPro), both running El Capitan 10.11.6. On both machines, I set up a Daily scheduled Full System Scan at 03:00. It works fine and runs every day at the scheduled time, and the Next Run says, “Tomorrow”.

However, if and when I reboot the machine, the scheduled scan no longer runs, and Next Run has a date, usually in the past (probably the date of the first scheduled run).

So, it appears that a reboot causes Avast to “forget” scheduled scans. After each reboot, I have to go in and manually delete the old scheduled scan and set it up again - Full System Scan, Daily, 03:00. Then it runs fine again, every day at the scheduled time – that is, until another reboot.

Is this a bug, or is there something I can do to work around this problem?

If you have the “time machine” enabled, disable it and see if it still happens.

This sounds more like a bug in Avast, than a Time Machine issue. We will investigate it and alternatively
fix it.

I agree. As a Mac user, of course I have Time Machine enabled  And turning off Time Machine would not be an acceptable workaround.

I definitely think it seems like a bug in Avast. I appreciate your willingness to look into this as such, and hope that it leads to identification of the problem and a resolution.

I just suggested it to rule it out as possible cause.

I did try disabling Time Machine, Eddy, with no effect: Avast still loses scheduled scans across a reboot.

Ok, at least we ruled that out as a option.

As Sherlock Holmes said “When you have eliminated the impossible whatever remains however improbable must be the truth”

We have reproduced the issue, it is really a Avast bug. It will be fixed in the next program update.

Excellent! Thanks!
