I have the most recent Avast Free Version installed on my Toshiba laptop running Vista 32 bit. It is a fresh install of OS, and otherwise operates as it should. However, when the Avast screen saver comes on, it is locking the system up. I have tried different screen savers utilizing Avast, such as the generic Windows Logo, but still get the same results. Any suggestions?

Which is the message? “Starting scanning…”?
No, it will be in the middle of scanning files while the screen saver is on. Then when you wiggle the mouse or press a key, it just locks up.

Wow, good question. The laptop is already out of our shop. I just advised the client on the problem and left the Avast screen saver off. I just thought if there was some quick fix I would know what to do in the future. Guess I’ll make a better note next time and post back.
