Avast Screen saver not working since Update

I started using Avast when it was V 4.8 and I really liked the screen saver scan function. When I upgraded to Avast v 5.0 my screen saver function doesn’t work anymore. It still shows up under screen savers in windows but if I select it nothing happens. The thumbnail preview shows a black screen and if I click preview the screen flashes black for a second then goes back to normal. The same happens if I try to click settings.

I think that windows is still looking for v 4.8’s screen saver but all it’s finding is v 5.0’s screen saver.
I have windows vista home premium x64.

please help.

Check this: In top right corner > Settings > Special Scans must have " tic " i think

in the avast prefs check the special scans option (using avast german, so should b somthng similar).
u then can set the ss options in avast. specially which ss u want 2 use with avast. choose one. should work then. :slight_smile:

I did not see a “tic” option in special scans.

Also, I did try changing the screen saver options and nothing seems to be working. I might just reinstall.

I tried uninstalling and reinstalling and that didn’t solve my problem. After avast was uninstalled the avast screen saver was still an option under window’s screen savers. After reinstalling the program nothing has changed with the screen saver, I still cannot use my avast screen saver after the update.

avast preferences.
check show special scans in avast.
now there’s a new! menu-option in the scan-section of avast regarding ss-scanning.
click details.
choose settings.
there’s a ss-tab.
choose ur ss 2 b used with avast there.
done that, choose avast-ss in system as usual.
should work now! :slight_smile:

That was one of the first things I did. But thank you for your help.

Again I do not think it is a problem with avast, I think it’s a windows problem.
